Iain Burnside's ‘A Soldier and a Maker’

BBC Radio 3: Drama on 3

Frazer returns to the part of WW1 Soldier, Wilf, which he created when 'A Soldier and a Maker' (under the initial guise of 'Unknown Doors') first premiered in the Barbican (2011).

In this BBC Radio adaptation, Richard Goulding plays Gurney, with Stephanie Coles playing Winifred, Gurney’s sister, Jemma Redgrave as his friend Marion Scott, while David Shaw Parker plays another friend, Herbert Howells.  Songs are performed by the mezzo soprano Susan Bickley and members of the cast, including Frazer.  Iain Burnside - who wrote the piece, which reflects the life and works of Ivor Gurney - plays piano throughout.

This marks Frazer's BBC Radio debut.
